Universal Preschool Enrollment

Did you know that your child may be eligible for free preschool? Universal Preschool Colorado (UPK) ensures that every child, in the year before they are eligible for kindergarten, is eligible for half-day (minimum 15 hours per week) state-funded, voluntary preschool, provided they complete the UPK Colorado application. SchoolChoice opens at 10 a.m. on Jan. 11, 2024. Applying for ECE-3? Follow these steps!

1. Visit schoolchoice.dpsk12.org to complete a DPS SchoolChoice application. 
2. Visit upk.colorado.gov to complete a Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado application. Receive additional funding information from UPK. 

Eligibility: Students who turn 3 years old on or before Oct. 1. 3-year-olds with qualifying factors may be eligible for at least part-time (10 hours per week) preschool programming provided they complete the UPK Colorado application.

Applying for ECE-4? Follow these steps!

1. Visit upk.colorado.gov to complete a Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado application. Make your programs/selections.
2. Visit schoolchoice.dpsk12.org to complete a DPS SchoolChoice application. Only select the “Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado” option when making school selections. 

Eligibility: Students who turn 4 years old on or before Oct 1 are eligible! 4-year-olds with qualifying factors may be eligible for additional hours (beyond the 15 guaranteed hours) of tuition-free preschool.
